DIGISCOPING

Why digiscoping? Why now? We took a trip to Southwestern Illinois, Grafton to be exact,
and drove up the Mississippi River to La Crosse, WI. We saw many Bald Eagles, around 350,
I brought my camera along as usual, hoping to get some nice pix.
I took a grand total of 2, yes two. I knew right then that I had to give this process a try.
I don't know how many of you have ever checked the prices of a good quality camera lens over
400mm but let me tell you they get awfully expensive. The actual cost to purchase this outfit
was about half the price of the next lens I could buy for my camera.
Hopefully my pictures will improve greatly as I learn more about this procedure.
Be sure to check back regularly for updates.

Digiscoping is photography, captured using the combined efforts of a digital camera plus high
quality spotting scope. As outlined on the diagram above, this is the basic set-up.
This necessitates the photographer learning the working process of both the digital
camera and the spotting scope. Patience is of the up most importance.
At it's minimum, this set up is equal to a 2,000mm lens. The use of a high quality tripod
is absolutely necessary. The remote also helps to prevent any movement to the digiscope.
At 2000mm any small movement to the camera would severely affect the picture.
